ABOUT

Abigail Prade is a Dutch director/producer based in New York City. After studying art history and comparative arts and media studies, her love for Asian art house cinema led her to Singapore where she pursued a degree in film production at the graduate film program at New York University, Tisch School of the Arts Asia.

Deeply valuing cross-cultural storytelling, Abigail’s work often centers on women’s experiences and explores themes like identity, immigration, and the human condition.

Abigail’s thesis film, Future Perfect, was shot in Seoul and screened at the Locarno Film Festival, the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival, and the Netherlands Film Festival. Her short film A Mutual Understanding was supported by regional Dutch funds CineSud and the CBK Rotterdam.

An alumna of the Go Short Talent Campus, the Cinephilia Shorts Lab, and the Locarno Filmmakers Academy, Abigail was presented as an emerging talent to the international film industry at the Locarno Film festival. Her work has screened at film festivals around the world and has been featured in publications such as Vice i-D.

Abigail is an independent producer and has worked in various roles on feature-length documentaries at different production companies in the Netherlands. She produces documentary and fiction films with her own production company.

Abigail is currently developing her first narrative feature film Er Tin Tin, a film set in 1982 Suriname, which was selected for the 2024 Holland Film Meeting. She works as a Film Program Officer at a film and new media fund in New York.
